High Rocky Riders is, in part, the reincarnation of the 4X4Teeners club. Briefly, the 4X4Teeners Club was organized in 1995 as a nonprofit organization for the purposes of:
Owners of four-wheel-drive vehicles were eligible for membership in the club, and each membership included the immediate family. In addition to regular monthly meetings, activities of the club included:
After a few years, interest in meetings began to fall, and gradually the club stopped meeting. At a reorganizational meeting in April, 2003, those in attendance expressed enthusiasm for all things related to four-wheeling except formal meetings and activities that were excessively planned and organized. We decided to continue the club on an informal basis, charging no dues, through fall 2003. In subsequent discussions, we decided that four-wheeling enthusiasts would be best served by a web page which, when fully developed, would include descriptions of major jeep trails in the Chaffee County area; up-to-date reports on trail conditions, especially which trails are currently open; pictures; driving and maintenance tips; and scheduled outings. A decision was made to totally reorganize the club and to include ATV's and dirt-bikes as well as jeeps, because we all share a common interest in preserving our recreational areas and protecting our rights to use public lands where authorized. High Rocky Riders was formed in 2004 to carry on and expand the interests of the old 4X4teener Club. |
